What is known about hunger
88.9 vs. 11.1 % and the effects
Its sad to see that 11.1% of people in the world are enduring the terrible suffering known as hunger. Its also important to realize just what physical, mental, and social trauma they suffer through each and every day. First we have the terrible effects of malnutrition to a person's health. Someone with malnutrition may experience stunted growth as a long term effect, and even worse rapid weight loss to the point of body dis-figuration (looking inhumanly skinny) and eventually death.
Hunger of the future 50:50
- Scientists have estimated that if there if the world doesn't produce 50% more food by 2050 than half the world's population will be malnourished or starving that would be 4.85 billion people in 2050!
The levels of shortage
Its been determined that there are three levels of food shortage (food shortage directly influences hunger, malnutrition, and starvation) them being: local, national, and global (ranked from first being the smallest to last being the biggest) it has been discussed and many people feel that a global food shortage is the most problematic due to the fact that local, and even national food shortages can be stopped with the support of other nations and/or other parts of a nation, however with a global food shortage there's no other planets to support Earth meaning that if the Earth experiences a global food crisis it could prove to be deadly and disastrous. National food shortages are the most common and developing countries are the main victims of this type of food shortage, because they have less resources
